
Palomar Splits Matches Against Hope International and Santiago Canyon
HEMET, CA (2/7/2025) -- The Palomar College women's beach volleyball team continued their early-season schedule with two matchups, facing Hope International University and Santiago Canyon College. The Comets battled hard, ultimately falling to Hope International 4-1 but bouncing back with a dominant 5-0 sweep over Santiago Canyon.
In their first match against Hope International, the Comets struggled to gain momentum, with their only win coming from the No. 1 pair of Janell Spires and Emma Bambe. The duo delivered a strong performance, defeating Naomi Ruiz and Rachael Street 21-16, 21-16. Despite competitive efforts from the rest of the squad, Palomar dropped the remaining four matches, with Teiora Tinoisamoa and Bailey Prieto putting up a particularly hard-fought battle in the fourth-seeded match before falling 21-17, 27-1.
The Comets rebounded in their next matchup against Santiago Canyon College, securing a decisive 5-0 victory. Spires and Bambe once again led the way, taking down Ashlyn Smith and Ava Cline 21-13, 21-6. Brisa Necochea and Kaia Lam followed with a solid 21-18, 21-13 win, while the rest of Palomar's lineup benefitted from forfeits by Santiago Canyon.
With the split results, Palomar moves forward with renewed confidence, demonstrating their resilience and ability to bounce back. The Comets will look to build on their success as they prepare for the next stretch of competition.
