Bio

Ismay was a two-time All-American at Palomar under coach John Woods, at 126 pounds as a freshman and 134 as a sophomore. He moved on to Fresno State where he was a two-time NCAA National Tournament qualifier and the Bulldogs' Captain and Most Valuable Wrestler. Ismay, who originally came to Palomar from Mar Vista High to wrestle for Woods, served as an assistant to Woods and later Roye Oliver for two state championship teams for the Comets. Named Palomar's head coach in 1991, he guided the Comets to two state championships in 14 seasons. Ismay, who received his B.s. degree from San Diego State University in 1987, was a two-time California Community College Wrestling Coach of the Year and was named Wrestling USA.com Natioal Coach of the Year in 1993.
