Bio

Gibson, who is the head coach at Idaho State University, is rated as the best female soccer player in Palomar history. She led the Comets to back-to-back conference championships and two appearances in the state championships, where they finally lost in the semifinals to the eventual state champions in both 1990 and 1991. The Poway High School product scored 49 goals in two seasons at Palomar under coach Henry Sosa, still the school record. Her 31 goals as a sophomore led the nation in scoring on the community college level and a quarter-century later is still the Palomar record. Gibson went on to make the National Soccer Coaches of America's All-American first-team playing for Sonoma State. She was a two-time conference Player of the Year for back-to-back conference championship sides, leading the Cossacks to the D-II College Cup Final Four as a junior and to a 31-9 record over two seasons. Gibson began her coaching career as the JV coach at Rancho Bernardo High School between her final season as a Poway High player and her freshman season at Palomar. After her collegiate playing career, she spent two seasons as a Sonoma State assistant, played professional soccer for three seasons with the Fujita Mercury in Japan, was the No. 1 assistant at Division I University of San Francisco for five seasons and was named head coach at D-I Idaho State University on Jan. 19, 2006, winning a conference championship and Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year honors in her first season. Her highest-profile player at Idaho State has been Maria Sanchez, who played for Mexico in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada. Gibson is the winningest women's coach in Idaho State history. She received her Bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Sonoma State in 1995 and her Master's in organization and leadership from the University of San Francisco in 2004. Gibson, who was inducted into the Sonoma State Hall of Fame in 2000, holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" coaching license. She also holds an NSCAA Premier Diploma.
