Bio

John Ashworth, a product of Escondido’s Orange Glen High School, helped lead the Palomar College Men’s Golf Team to its best season record in history, 22-2, under the late coach Bob Lusky in 1978. Following that freshman year, he accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Arizona, where he played for the Wildcats from 1979 through 1981 and was later inducted into the University of Arizona Athletic Hall of Fame. After college, he became the founder, CEO and President of the iconic Ashworth Company, which led the international golf industry in sales of apparel until he sold it to Taylor Made-Adidas in 2007. Ashworth subsequently founded the Linksole brand, combining the recreational aspects of golf and surfing in a highly popular line of active apparel. He is the brother of former Palomar College and University of San Diego baseball infielder Hank Ashworth.
