Dyer to explore next level after senior season at UNM

SAN MARCOS, CA (1/13/2021) – Palomar football alumni Tyson Dyer has decided to explore the next level after finishing his senior season at the University of New Mexico.

Dyer played one season for the Comets but left a lasting impression in the records book. He had a career-long 70-yard punt against El Camino in 2017, tied for third-best in program history. Against Chaffey, he had five punts inside the 20-yard line, tied for most ever. He totaled 23 punts inside the 20 that season, second-best in program history. He is the record holder for punts inside the 10-yard line with five a game and is second-best with four punts inside the 1-yard line in a season and career.

The Australian took his talents to Albuquerque and continued to amaze everyone. He was the first Australian punter in program history for the Lobos, but it was what he did on the field that was impressive.

He was honorable mention All-Mountain West his sophomore season. Averaging 44.3 yards a punt, he had 19 punts pinned inside the 20, 19 of which were 50 yards or more. He broke a record there too, an 84-yard punt downed at the 1-yard line against the Air Force Academy. In his junior season, he was named Second Team All-Mountain West and was a Ray Guy Award semifinalist. He averaged 46.1 yards a punt with a long of 63. He finished second nationally in punts inside the 20 and he led the nation in percentage of punts inside the 20 with a 59.3% mark.

Congrats Tyson!
