Comets roll to 7-0 men's soccer rout over Imperial Valley

SAN MARCOS (10-31-2018) / (UPDATED 11-02-2018) – The Palomar men's soccer team rolled up visiting Imperial Valley in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game 7-0 on Friday at Minkoff Field behind Tyler Eldridge's hat trick.

Eldridge, a freshman forward out of Chaparral High School in Temecula, also contributed an assist to go with his three goals as the Comets advanced to 4-9-2 in conference play. Bryan Covarrubias, a freshman forward from Vista High School, and Aaron Garcia, a sophomore forward out of Temecula Great Oak High, also scored multiple goals for Palomar.

Eldridge scored the first goal of the game in the first minute, added a goal off Covarrubias' assist in the third minute to make it 2-0. Covarrubias' goal in the 27th minute off the first of two assists by Seth Murphy, a freshman midfielder form Poway High, upped the Comets' lead to 3-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Covarrubias scored a goal off Murphy's second assist in the 56th minute. Garcia added an unassisted goal in the 61st minute and came back with a goal off an assist by Chandler Dittloff a freshman from Great Oak in the 70th minute and Eldridge added an unassisted goal off Murphy's assist in the 82nd minute as Palomar finished off the visiting Arabs in a rout.

Caleb Daza, a freshman out of Carlsbad High, and Jaime Fournier, a sophomore from Canyon Crest Academy, combined for a shutout in goal.
