Comets will open football season on Sept. 1 at Moorpark

SAN MARCOS (6-07-2018) -- Palomar has announced its 2018 football schedule as the Comets move into the re-aligned National Division Central League for at least the next two seasons.

Coach Joe Early's Comets will kick off the season on Saturday, Sept. 1 with a non-conference game at Moorpark College, then will play four more non-conference games against Southwestern at Escondido High School's Chick Embrey Field at Wilson Stadium on Sept. 8; Citrus at Wilson Stadium on Sept. 15; at Ventura on Sept. 22; and at Grossmont on Sept. 29.

Palomar's National Division Central games will match the Comets against defending state and National champion Fullerton College on at Wilson Stadium on Oct. 6; Mt. SAC at Wilson Stadium on Oct. 13; at El Camino College on Oct. 27; Cerritos at Wilson Stadium on Nov. 3; and at San Diego Mesa on Nov. 10.

Along with Palomar from the National Division South, Mesa comes up from the non-playoff eligible American Division to the playoff and state championship-eligible National Division.

The new alignment for the National Division South League will finds Riverside City College moving down from the National Central and Southwestern coming up from the non-playoff eligible American Division to join returning members, Grossmont, Golden West and Orange Coast.
