Palomar Womens Track Places First Overall in the Coast Classic
The Palomar Women's track team won first place overall at the Coast Classic at Orange Coast College on March 16th, 2018 with a deciding win over 10 other schools. Palomar ended with a total score of 112, outscoring their closest opponent by over 20 points.
The Comets took first place in four different events as they notched their best meet of the year at Orange Coast. With first places in a few individual events and a couple relays, the Comets were able to top 10 other schools, including the host, Orange Coast College.
The Comets got first place in the 4x100 meter relay collecting 10 points with a time of 53.26 seconds. The relay was ran in this order, Tria Ismay, Alicia Zappia, Aneesa Stevenson, and Katie Preston.
Tria Ismay collected her second first place of the day in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.75 allocating another 10 points for the Comets.
The Comets won another relay with a time of 4:18.08 in the 4x400 meter consisting of Katie Preston, Astrid Sanchez, Hannah Lopez, and Tria Ismay.
The Final first place finish came from the Comets long jumper Alicia Zappia with a distance of 5.08 meters collecting another 10 points for the Comets.
Along with the 4 first place finshes for Palomar, there were 8 other top three finishes, with several of our athletes placing top 3 in multiple events.
This event is a good sign for the Comets as they look to build off of this really strong first place finish heading into the Aztec Invitational and the CCCAA So Cal Hep.
