Comets Take 3rd both Monday and Wednesday

3-19-18

The Comets were on the road for the second conference tournament of the year held at the Morongo Golf Course, Tukwet Canyon. The Comets took third place on the day with a combined total of 397 just four strokes off of second place.

The low score of the day for Palomar was Alex Rhee, who was in a three way tie with golfers from College of the Desert and Mt. San Jacinto. This score of 75 was good for a 3 way medalist decision, Rhee's first of conference. There were two other Comets who shot under 80, including Jacob Montes with a 79 and Jaime Sanz with a 78.

This trip to Tukwet Canyon was successful for the Comets as they were able to pick up their first medalist in conference play.

3-21-18

The Comets took third place on just a day's rest at the Gary Player Signature Course, Wednesday, March 21st. Play was from the black tees making it a 7062 par 72. The Comets were just 2 strokes off of the lead shooting a combined 372 behind MSJC's 370.

Individually, Jacob Montes shot the low for the Comets, holing a 71 which was just one stroke back from the pair of medalists. This 71 was good four under-par, the only Comet to do so on the day. Through 3 conference matchups, Jacob Montes is in second place overall with an average score of 73.3, behind College of the Desert's Bobby Kim with a 73.0.

Every Palomar Golfer shot below 80, making it a very productive tournament compared to the last. Comets who recorded scores were Alex Rhee with a 79, Jaime Sanz with a 77, Zach Brown with his season best of a 73, Patrick Gorman with a 75, and Kyoshiro Azumada with a 76.

The Comets rest in third place thus far in conference with 7 wins and 5 losses in pairings. College of the Desert sits in first with 11 wins and a loss.

The Comets next conference battle will be March 26th, 2018 at El Dorado Golf Course in Long Beach, California.
