Men's Golf: Jacob Montes Medals as the Comets Finish Third

3-5-18

The Comets set out for Bakersfield to play on their 6882 yard par 72 where the Comets took 3rd place on the long day. It was Jacob Montes who was the medalist of the round shooting the low of a 69.

Palomar took 3rd with a net score of 378, 13 strokes off the leading team, Orange Coast's 365. Every Comet broke 80 with Jacob Montes being the only Comet to shoot under par. Patrick Gorman shot a 75 on the day just 3 strokes off even. The Comets had one player withdraw with an injury.

Jacob Montes, a freshman out of Torrey Pines high school in California, shot a season-best 69 for the Comets resulting in the first medalist of the year for the Comets and the first in his career.

The Comets look to build on this performance as they head out to Torrey Pines, March 12th, to Jacob Montes' home course, and open up conference play for the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Neutral.
