Men's Golf Places Second in the Mt. San Jacinto Invitational

2-14-18

Men's Golf takes second place 5 strokes off of Orange Coast in the Mount San Jacinto Invitational at the Tukwet Canyon Golf Club. With every player shooting below 80 for the Comets, they tallied a 382 overall 5 strokes off of the Pirates 377, beating 14 other teams.

The lowest score for the Comets was a 75, 3 strokes over par, in a tournament where only one player of the entire event was able to shoot even. This 6,804 yard par 72 in Beaumont, California, proved to be difficult for every course challenger. With the desert winds and warm weather, it was very tough to not make a mistake Wednesday afternoon. A long downhill hole 14 was the Comets toughest challenger on the day, causing slight miscues, as it did for most other teams. Other Comets who recorded scores were, Kyoshiro Azumada (77), Jacob Montes (76), Alex Rhee (76), Zach Brown (79), Jaime Sanz (78), and Patrick Gorman (75) totaling the Comets at 382 strokes on the day winning the tie-breakers between Cypress and Mt. San Antonio College. For Wednesday the 14th, the Comets' record turned out to be 14-1, their best of the season.

The Comets are set for rest as they have over a week off to prepare for their next contest on the 26th against Riverside Community College. The Comets are still looking for their first top finish as they keep climbing the leaderboard every contest from 6th to 4th to their most recent 2nd place finish.
