Romero (New Mexico State), Couch (Houston Baptist), Dyer (University of New Mexico), Williams (Southeastern Louisiana), and Childress (Minot State) all sign for Comets Football

A local out of North county San Diego (Oceanside), Matt Romero signs with the New Mexico State Aggies. Romero (Quarterback), led the comets to a 5-6 record this past season passing for over 2,900 yards with an average of 265.0 yards per game. On Sept, 23rd at Moorpark, Romero sported one of his handful of highlight games throwing for 457 yards and 3 touchdowns completing 60.8% of his passes leading the Comets to a 38-34 win. Romero was awarded 2nd Team All-League in the Southern National Division both as a freshman and sophomore.

Carter Couch, a Defensive Lineman out of Mt. Carmel, San Diego, commits to the Houston Baptist Huskies for the 2018 season. Couch looks to improve the Husky football team defensively with his 19 tackles in 11 games he had this past season with the Comets. Along with his 19 tackles he totaled 13 assists and 1.5 sacks averaging almost 3 tackles a game at 2.9.2018

Tyson Dyer, a freshman from Queensland, Australia, has signed to the University of New Mexico Lobos. Dyer, the punter for the Palomar Comets, was named Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week (11-14-2017) for his outstanding performance versus Grossmont in November. He averaged 44.2 yards over 5 punts, 2 of which were inside the 20 including a 61-yarder that was pinned at the opponent's 5 yard line. Dyer was unanimously named 1st Team Defense All-League in the Southern National Division.

Marquis Williams, a sophomore from Daytona Beach, Florida, has signed with the Division I Southeastern Louisiana Lions. Williams was awarded 2nd Team All-League in the Southern National Division for his standout offensive campaign at wide receiver. Williams ended the season with 626 yards on 53 receptions averaging 56.9 yards per game. Williams totaled 5 touchdown catches on the year in 11 games.

Michael Childress, a local out of Vista, California, has signed to continue his football career at Minot State in North Dakota. Childress looks to make an immediate impact for the Division II Beavers as he started in 10/11 games as a sophomore for the Comets creating a wall that led to the successful passing campaign for his quarterback Matt Romero.
