Comets' Perryman honored as Athlete of Week

SAN MARCOS (11-18-2017) -- Palomar's Vinessa Perryman, coach Leigh Marshall's 5-foot-6 sophomore guard from Valley Center High School who was named Most Valuable Player in the Palomar Comet Classic, has also been honored as Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Women's Athlete of the Week.

This came after the Comets ran their record to 7-0 by defeating Long Beach City College, which came into the game with a 5-0 record, 82-65 in a championship match-up of two unbeaten teams.

Perryman scored 17 points against the Vikings, going 3-for-6 on 3-pointers, and also contributed 8 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and 2 blocks. She went 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

After helping ignite the Comets' 96-61 first-round victory over the Palomar Alumni, Perryman totaled 16 points, going 3-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals as Palomar defeated West Los Angeles 108-68 in the semifinals.

Perryman's teammate Monica Todd, a sophomore from Mission Hills High School who scored 17 points in the Comet Classic finale vs. Long Beach, was an honorable mention Athlete of the Week pick.

Palomar volleyball player Mikayla Seiler, daughter of Karl Seiler, the Comets' head coach, and a freshman setter out of Vista Murrieta Hgh School, also was awarded honorable mention. She dished off 38 assists and also had 20 digs in a PCAC cross-over match, in which Palomar dropped a 3-1 decision to Imperial Valley. The set scores were 25-23, 25-22, 14-25, 25-23.
