PCAC names Sanchez Athlete of Week after hat trick

SAN DIEGO (10-16-2017) -- Palomar soccer player Yuliana Sanchez has been selected as Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Women's Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15.

Sanchez, a freshman forward from Fallbrook High School who helped lead the Warriors to the CIF San Diego Section Division IV semifinals last season, delivered a hat trick for coach Hector Hernandez's Comets last week against Cuyamaca College in a PCAC cross-division matchup.

Sanchez scored goals in the third, 66th and 70th minutes in leading the Comets past the Coyotes 5-1. Samantha Kaye-Toral and Monique Ricardez assisted on her first and third goals, respectively. Sanchez's second goal was unassisted.

The previous week, Sanchez contributed a goal and an assist as Palomar and San Diego City College battled to a 3-3 tie in San Diego.
