16 Comets land scholarships; 7 to NCAA Division I

SAN MARCOS (8-20-2017) -- All 15 sophomores from Palomar's 2017 baseball team, plus one freshman, have received scholarships to four-year colleges.

The list includes seven players who are transferring to the NCAA Division I level, Cameron Haskell and Mike Benson to the University of Arizona, Grant Buck to Houston Baptist, Joey Cooper to Cal State Northridge Jonathan Vizcaino to High Point, Jared Montoya to Oral Roberts and Zach Wallace to Eastern Michigan.

Benson was Palomar's starting catcher in 2016 but wound up taking an injury redshirt year in 2017.
