Comets fall to Spartans in four

OCEANSIDE, CA (10/14/2022) -- In their final match of the first round of conference play, Palomar fell 3-1 to the No. 20 MiraCosta College Spartans.

After dropping the first two sets (25-22 and 25-18), the Comets bounced back to win set three 25-20 to force the fourth set. In a back-and-forth battle, it was the Spartans who walked away victorious with the 28-26 set four win.

Savanna Lewis was dominant for the Comets, finishing the night with 19 kills, while Holland Hancock and Rachael Cooke each had eight. Hancock led the team with 21 digs, while Lewis finished with 18. Proving yet again that she can play anywhere on the court, Hancock also recorded four aces.

Palomar moves to 8-6 overall and 4-4 in conference play. They will have a home game on Wednesday against Grossmont College. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
