Power Five lightning fast at Crafton Hills

YUCAIPA, CA (3/3/2023) -- The power five squad of Emma Hart, Elena Pena, Alessandra Fleischman, Charlize Molitor and Maggie Tanner competed in the first conference invite of the season at Crafton Hills and won 10 of 12 events they competed in.

Individually they are a force, but when they come together for a relay, they can't be stopped. In the 200Y Medley Relay, the Comets won with a time of 2:01.58, while San Diego Mesa College took second with a time of 2:10.05. In the 200Y Free Relay, it was the COmets again besting Mesa with a time of 1:47.83, while the Olympians finished with a time of 2:00.50.

Fleischman took home the 100Y Free by nearly three seconds with a time of 55.88, while the second-place time was 58.06. She then won the 50Y Back with a time of 30.53. Maggie Tanner finished in 3rd in the event with a time of 36.90. Fleishman also won the 50Y Flyy with a time of 25.51. Molitor and Tanner also swam the event and finished 7-8 with times of 31.74 and 32.25. Emma Hart was lightning fast once again, winning the 100Y Fly (57.60), 100Y Back (1:01.04) and the 50Y Fly (26.11). Elena Pena took home the 100Y IM with a time of 1:03.51, a near three seconds faster than second place. She finished 2nd (33.30) in the 50Y Breast and Tanner finished 4th (43.34). Molitor won the 200Y Free with a time of 2L25.51.

The women will be competing in the Riverside Invitational at Riverside City College on Friday and Saturday. They will return to conference action on Mar. 17 when the Comets host the second invite of the season.
