Comets sprint to success at Golden West Invite

COSTA MESA, CA (2/24/2023) -- In their first sprints competition of the season, Palomar traveled to Orange Coast College for the Golden West Sprint Invite.

The women won seven of the 13 events they competed in. They competed in four relays, winning the 400Y Medley with a time of 4:25.60. They finished in 2nd in both the 400Y Free (3:56.80) and the 200Y Free (1:46.31). In the 200Y Medley, they finished in 3rd with a time of 2:01.34.

In the individual events, Emma Hart won the 100Y Fly (56.72), 100Y Back (59.17), and 50Y Fly (26.01). The second-place swimmer in the 100Y Fly finished with a time of 1:08.35, nearly 12 seconds behind Hart. Elena Pena won the 50Y Breast with a time of 33.75 and the 100Y IM with a time of 1:05.10. Maggie Tanner and Charlize Molitor also competed in the race and finished in 10th and 11th, respectively. Alessandra Fleischman won the 50Y Free with a time of 25.39. Molitor and Tanner also swam in the event and finished 28th and 31st, respectively. Pena took home second in the 100Y Breast with a time of 12.57. Hart and Fleischman went 1-2 in the 50Y Fly. Fleischman then took 2nd in the 100Y free. Tanner and Molitor swam the 50Y Back and finished in 5th and 8th with times of 37.20 and 38.76, respectively.
