Hart wins five at Waterman Pentathlon

SAN MARCOS, CA (2/10/2023) -- The Palomar College Women's Swim team is looking to gain momentum in the 2023 season, thanks in large part to freshman Emma Hart, a transfer from Northern Arizona University.

On Friday, the Comets hosted their annual Waterman Pentathlon. In the five events the Comets competed in, Hart won all five. She posted a 25.57 time in the 50-yard butterfly, while sophomore Elena Pena finished in second with a time of 27.77. Freshman Alessandra Fleischman finished in fourth with a time of 30.14. In the 50-yard back, Hart posted a time of 27.13  and Pena took third with a time of 30.56. Hart was almost a whole second faster than the second place finisher, Maya Garcia-Hale from Grossmont, with a time of 31.46. Hart and Fleischman went 1-2 in the 50-yard free with times of 24.33 and 25.49, respectively. In the 100-yard IM, Hart finished three seconds faster than Grossmont's Garcia-Hale with a time of 1:00.45.

The women will be back in action on Feb. 24 when they head to Golden West College.
