Comets sending nine to State

Comets family and friends,

This past weekend, we hosted the 3C2A Southern Regional Championships at Palomar. This was the first tournament I ever hosted, which happened to be a championship event… and also happened to be the same day that Trackwrestling went down nationwide.

Other than the outage, the tournament ran well, and it was great to see this caliber of wrestling in our home gym once again. I have to thank our athletic department—Dan Lynds, Bianca Littleton, Cara Heise, Flecicia Heise, John Hennessey, etc.—for doing a phenomenal job.

My Thoughts:

Overall, the team stepped up and did what they needed to. We qualified nine wrestlers to the 3C2A Championships, which was our primary objective. I am already looking ahead to the state tournament and will work with the team to make some tactical adjustments. The brackets should be out very soon.

Our medalists:

Team finish: 5th place

What's Next:

We'll head to Cuesta College this Thursday for the state tournament on Friday and Saturday. I'm excited to see our guys get after it for the final time this season and make a run at some state titles. Now is the time to bring the fire and let it fly!

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Comets this season. My next update will have the state results and season recap.
