Comets ranked No. 5 in 3C2A Tourney Teams
Comets family and friends,
The season is in full swing! I just wanted to share a few updates:
Palomar Ranked #5 in CCCAA Tournament Team Rankings
In the first set of team tournament rankings, the Comets are ranked #5 overall in the CCCAA. While we don't have the strongest dual meet team on paper, our tournament team is looking great (this is largely because we have doubles at several weight classes). I'm excited to see our guys continue to work and climb their way up these rankings as the season goes on. We have some guys who are clearly hungry to bring home some individual CCCAA titles this year.
Tri Meet vs. Cuesta College and Victor Valley College
Last night we took on Victor Valley and Cuesta College for our first dual meets of the season.

149 Casey Rosa - loss by fall vs. #2 Brandon Bollinger
157 #6 Anthony Perez - win by technical fall (22-5) vs. Luciano Esoldo
165 Dylan Hartley - loss by decision (9-5) vs. Dylan Bentz
174 #5 DJ Weimer - win by major decision (17-3) vs. Israel Manriquez
184 Mateo Carrera - loss by fall vs. Shea Gabriel
197 #HM Liam Clark - win by decision (8-5) vs. Zack Leon
285 Mustafa Farha - win by injury default vs. #2 Owen Firm
As a group, the guys put forth a good effort. Our more experienced wrestlers did an excellent job of wrestling their pace and securing bonus point wins. They are buying into the idea that we don't just want to win; we want to dominate our opponents at every opportunity. However, we do need to improve in some key technical areas that were exposed, which we'll be addressing at practice this week and next.
What's Next
Up next, the Comets will have #1 Mt. San Antonio College at home on Wednesday, October 11th, and then a quick turnaround for the So Cal Dual Meet Championships on October 14th.
