The Brawl up next for No. 14 wrestling

Comets fans, friends, alumni, and supporters,

Yesterday, a new set of CCCAA state rankings was released.

Despite starting the year with zero wrestlers ranked and a team ranking at #21, we currently have five Comets listed among California's best:

• 125 lbs. – Juan Diaz, Honorable Mention
• 133 lbs. – Owen Wilson, Honorable Mention
• 157 lbs. – Gavin Kaminski, 5^th
• 174 lbs. – Brayan Macias Morales, Honorable Mention
• 184 lbs. – Armando Rodriguez, 8^th

Team Rank – 14^th

I frequently tell the guys to not get too caught up in looking at the rankings; however, this list indicates that we have improved considerably and are on track to finish the season strong with some guys on the state podium.

I truly believe that these guys are just getting started and have the potential to finish the season well above this ranking. To accomplish this, we'll need to stay the course and be ready to bring the fire into the post season!

What's Next

This week, we compete at "The Brawl" at East Los Angeles College. The tournament should be a great last tune-up before the post-season. I expect the guys to have some fun, compete to the best of their ability, and focus on wrestling through one situation at a time.
