Comets bring heat against Chargers

SAN MARCOS, CA (8/30/2022) -- Locked in a stalemate through the first half, Palomar College and Cypress College tied 1-1.

With the ball being played at midfield with both teams breaking away only slightly, it was a matter of time before someone broke through the rough. In the 63rd minute head coach David Linenberger decided it was time to make a change up front. Enter Alex Vidican and Tommy Marquez. With fresh legs and more speed up front to matach Diego Picano, the forard connection was born. In the 65th minute, Picano scored the Comet's first goal of the season off an assist from Vidican.

The Chargers tied it up in the 74th minute on a penalty kick after a yellow card on the Comets in the box. Still threatening to take the lead, the Chargers tried to send another through, but keeper Max Subra locked it down. On a penalty kick, Subra got the save of the day in stoppage time.

Palomar moves to 0-1-1 on the season and will face Pasadena City College on the road at 4 p.m. on Friday.
