Football Preview: Week 7

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/18/21)- It is week seven of the football season for Palomar, as they face Chaffey at home. The Comets are coming off a 21-47 loss to Riverside.

Through six games, the Comets average 320 yards of offense while giving up 409 yards on defense. The Comets average 23 points a game while giving up 26 points a game.

Comets quarterback Zeke Payne (Rancho Bernardo) is coming off a 24-36 323 yards performance. Tawee Walker (Cenntennial) leads the running backs group, as he averages 4.8 yards per rush. Brandon Johnson (El Camino) leads the wide receivers group, as he has 17 receptions for 245 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Comets defense is led by linebacker Vavega Sialoi (Vista), who has 23 tackles, including two tackles for loss. Ricky Davis Jr (Arbor View) has three interceptions to lead the Comets defense. Kicker Landon Ogles (Rancho Bernardo) has made all 7 of his field goal attempts.

On the opposite side of the field, Chaffey QB Kevin Lukasiewicz has hit 87 of 169 passes for 967 yards and 7 touchdowns. Running back Tyon Crook has 55 carries for 166 yards and 1 touchdown. Wide receiver Norbert Espadron has 15 receptions for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Chaffey's defense is led by safety Almani Bishop, who has 26 tackles and 1 interception. Defensive back JaCari Williams has 27 tackles and 2 interceptions. Kicker Jocob Meneses has knocked down 3 field goals and 7 extra points.

The Comets look for their third win of the season. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Escondido High School on Saturday October 23th.
