Football Preview: Week 4

SAN MARCOS, CA (9/23/21)- It is week four of the football season for No. 21/22 Palomar, as they travel to No. 5 College of the Canyons to try and hand Canyons their first loss of the season. The Comets are coming off a dominant 26-7 win over Southwestern.

Through three games, the Comets average 287 yards of offense while giving up 294 yards on the opposite side of the ball. The Comets average 20 points per game while giving up just 13 points per game. Look for the Comets to cut down their penalties, as they average seven penalties committed per game.

Comets quarterback Zeke Payne (Rancho Bernardo) looks to continue to lead the Comets to victory off a 12-28, one touchdown performance. Tawee Walker (Centennial) leads the running backs group, as he averages 5.2 yards a carry. Alex Hill (Vista Murrieta) leads the wide receivers group, with seven receptions for 128 yards on the year.

The Comets defense is led by linebacker Khalid Walker (Mojave), who has 12 tackles and one sack on the season. Defensive back Ricky Davis Jr (Arbor View) has three interceptions to lead the Comets defense. Kicker Landon Ogles (Rancho Bernardo) has made all four of his field-goal attempts.

On the opposite side of the field, Canyons QB Colton Doyle has hit 56 of 86 passes for 763 yards and eight touchdowns. Running back Kalenga Mugunda racked up 105 rushing yards on 16 carries. Wide receiver Calvin Littles has recorded 13 catches for 118 yards and one touchdown.

Canyons' defense is led by linebacker Jonathan Thomas, he notched 22 tackles and one sack on the season. Defensive lineman Henry Ikahihifo has already recorded four sacks on the year. Kicker Ty Morrison has knocked down seven of his eight field-goal attempts.

The Comets look for their third win of the season. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Canyons.
