Lazuka named POTY, seven Comets All-PCAC

SAN DIEGO, CA (5/6/2024) -- Sophomore second baseman Noah Lazuka was named the 2024 PCAC Player of the Year in addition to seven Comets making the All-PCAC First Team. 

Lazuka, a sophomore out of San Marcos High School, has started every game for the Comets this season at second base. In 39 regular season games, he hit .428 and led the state at multiple points during the season. His 62 hits are a team-high, as are his 18 doubles. He hit four home runs in the regular season and two triples for 42 RBI. Lazuka also showed his speed on the basepaths stealing 16 bases on 18 attempts. In the field, he recorded 82 putouts and 100 assists to finish with a fielding percentage of .963.

Joining him on the All-PCAC First Team are sophomore outfielders Elijah Cook and Colby Rafail, freshmen starting pitchers Ryan Herrod and Ian Mowad, sophomore catcher Makana Olaso, sophomore designated hitter Ryan Rivera and sophomore relief pitcher Holden Carpenter

Head Coach Ben Adams was also named Coach of the Year after his club finished the regular season 30-9 and clinched their third consecutive PCAC title after going 23-2.

Given an Honorable Mention were freshman starting pitcher Eric Van Valkenburg, freshmen relievers Noah Waldeck and Lucas Smith, sophomore infielder Ian Halverson, sophomore utility player Luke Matthews, sophomore outfielders Anthony Pacino and Patrick McLellan and freshman catcher Carter Jorissen
