Tigers edge Comets in opening round of SoCal Regional

CHULA VISTA, CA (11/11/2021) -- No. 10 women's water polo faced No. 7 Riverside City College on Thursday in the CCCAA SoCal Regional Tournament and lost 14-13. This is their second consecutive postseason appearance. 

After being down 12-7 at the half, the Comets turned it on and cut the Tiger's lead by four to make it 13-11 to start the fourth quarter.  Freshman Brynna Bryant scored three times in the third off assists from Dickson and twice from freshman Emma Goode. Sophomore Sydni Dickson found the net twice on assists from freshman Elena Pena. Freshman Anna Draves got one in off an assist from freshman Sierra Molina. The Comets scored twice more in the fourth to bring the game within one and just couldn't find the net one more time to extend the game. 

The Comets scored 13 goals on 25 shots and racked up seven steals. Bryant drew three ejections while Dickson drew two. Goalkeeper Sophia O'Loughlin had seven saves on 21 shots. 

Palomar finished their season 16-9 overall and 12-0 in conference play.
