Women's water polo goes 2-2 at Mesa Tourney

SAN DIEGO, CA (10/7/2019) – Women's water polo competed in the San Diego Mesa College Tournament over the weekend.

In their first game, they faced San Diego Miramar College, a PCAC opponent, and won 14-9. Sydni Dickson had a career-high eight goals against the Jets. Haley Balch had three goals and one assist. Avery Morton had one goal and two assists. Sophie White recorded two goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Julia Miller had 11 saves on 18 shots in the four quarters.

The second match of the day was a 19-7 loss to Cypress College. Sydni Dickson had four goals and two steals. Haley Balch had two goals and Sophie White had one goal and one assist with two steals. Julia Miller had nine saves on 28 shots.

On the second day of the tournament, the Comets had a tough loss to Southwestern 13-12 after beating them 10-7 earlier in the week. Dickson recorded five goals and one assist. Avery Morton had three goals and two steals. Karla Cardona had one goal and one assist. Ciara Webb recorded just one goal but had six assists. Miller had 10 saves on 23 shots.

The Comets bounced back to beat Pasadena City College 9-2. Sydni Dickson recorded a second game with five goals and had three steals. Avery Morton had two goals and one steal. Ciara Webb had three assists and one goal. Karla Cardona had one goal and one assist. Julia Miller had 15 saves on 17 shots.

The women are now 8-6 overall and 2-0 in conference. They will face Grossmont on Wednesday for control of the PCAC at 2 p.m. on the road.
