Griffins best Comets in conference opener

EL CAJON, CA (9/16/2022) -- Palomar traveled to Grossmont College on Friday evening for their Pacific Coast Athletic Conference opener and lost 3-0. The Comets struggled to get going, dropping set one 25-18 and couldn't seem to pull it out in set two like they previously had, dropping the set 25-10. The final set saw the Griffins secure the match on a 25-21 win. 

Freshman Savanna Lewis finished the night with a team-high eight kills and recorded four dis. Sophomore libero Amaya Garcia finished with eight digs, one assist and one service ace. Sophomore setter Kenna Broach, who has had the hot hand at the serve line, finished with three service aces, six digs and 16 assists. 

Palomar moves to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in conference. They will face San Diego Mesa College at home in the Dome for a 5 p.m. first serve on Wednesday.
