Volleyball falls to Bakersfield 3-0; opens conference play on Wednesday

SAN MARCOS, CA (9/16/2019) – Palomar fell to No. 4 ranked Bakersfield College on Friday night 3-0. Despite the score, Palomar battled hard for every point scored. There were several long rallies where the Comets won the point.

On Wednesday night, the Comets open up conference play against San Diego Miramar College. Currently, Miramar is 0-3, losing to Irvine Valley College, Chaffey College and Saddleback College. In their three matches, they average 2.40 kills per set, 2.10 assists per set, 6.70 digs per set, 0.60 blocks per set and 0.50 service aces per set. Miramar has a hitting percentage of -0.26 percent.

Palomar is currently 2-5 after Friday night's loss. In seven matches, they average 6.04 kills per set, 4.96 assists per set, 1.33 blocks per set, 1.13 service aces per set and 5.46 digs per set. They have a hitting percentage of 0.74. So far this season, Palomar has defeated San Bernardino Valley College 3-2 and Cal Lutheran JV 3-0.

Sophomore Alina Lecakes-Jones leads the Comets in kills and digs with 37 and 30, respectively. Freshman Carsyn Emerson has five service aces and 21 digs. Sophomore Zandrea Brown has 30 kills and two solo blocks on the season. 

First serve will be at 5 pm in the Dome on Wednesday night.
