Comets push past Citrus to win game one

SAN MARCOS, CA (5/3/2019) – Palomar defeated Citrus College, 4-0, in game one of the best of three series.

The Comets scored three of their runs in the fourth inning. Allie Hughen (1-3) singled and Antoinette Robinson (0-0) scored. Rylee Penrod (0-3) then reached first on a fielder's choice and scored Kendall Kates (3-3). Taylor Riley (1-2) also singled and scored Hughen.

In the fifth inning, Sarah Fisher (1-3) singled to bring Kylie Pignone (1-4) home.

Hughen pitched six innings, recording 11 strikeouts and no hits or runs. She had one walk. Catalina Aguilar pitched the seventh inning and had one strikeout and gave up one hit.

The Comets will face Citrus in game two on Saturday at 12 p.m. If necessary, a game three will be played 30 minutes after the first game ends.
