Women run away with PCAC title, men finish in fourth

SAN DIEGO, CA (10/25/2019) – Cross country competed in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Friday. The women's team came out on top to win the conference. Freshman, Addison Rose led the Palomar victory with a second place finish and a huge personal record of 20:00. Freshman, Alexia Delgadillo placed third with a time of 20:35. Jolie Beentjes was Palomar's third runner and finished fifth with a time of 21:26.

Brianna Frain finished in eighth place with a time of 22:08. Mila Beentjes was Palomar's fifth runner and she ran 23:27. Battling sickness, Mckenna Brown finished with a time of 24:29. Lessly Maldonado, Palomar's seventh runner did an outstanding job running a time of 24:49. Both Mckenna Brown and Lessly Maldonado finished in front of Mesa's number five runner, who was Palomar's closest competitor. Five of Palomar's top women runners received All-Conference honors.

On the men's side, Miguel Velasquez led the Comets with an 11th place finish receiving All-Conference honors and clocking a time of 22:26. Robert Carney was Palomar's second runner and he finished with a 24th place finish and a time of 23:24. Patrick Zimbelmann was our next runner and he finished in 26th place with a time of 23:40. Maximus Collier finished in 30th place and clocked a time of 24:18. Marcus Cummiskey finished in 36th place with a time of 24:36. Isaiah Ralph (25:29) and Christian Tobin (25:42) finished in 41st and 42nd place respectively. As a team, the men finished in fourth place ahead of Southwestern.

Both teams will be competing at the CCCAA SoCal Regional Championships on Nov. 8 at Mission Bay.
