CHULA VISTA, CA (11/1/2025) -- Palomar wrapped up the Dia De Los Muertos Tournament on Saturday at Southwestern College, falling to Cypress College 16-10 before bouncing back with an 18-7 win over Chaffey College to close out the weekend on a strong note.
Game One: Cypress 16, Palomar 10
The Comets faced a sharp-shooting Cypress team in the morning matchup and couldn't recover from an early deficit. Palomar trailed 8-3 at halftime after the Chargers capitalized on several early possessions. Morgan Hartness led the Comets with three goals, while Josiah Wagner added two goals and three assists. Cody Schnick and Brody Rodriguez each scored twice, and Kaelin Kelley and Brian Otto rounded out the scoring.
In goal, Mitchell Peyton recorded 12 saves against 28 shots, and Palomar managed to close the gap late with a four-goal fourth quarter but couldn't overcome Cypress's fast start.
Game Two: Palomar 18, Chaffey 7
Palomar responded in emphatic fashion in the afternoon game, cruising past Chaffey behind a balanced and high-energy attack. Cody Schnick and Morgan Hartness led the way with four goals apiece, while Kaelin Kelley added three and Jacob Godfrey and Josiah Wagner each scored twice.
Brian Otto dished out three assists and controlled the offense early, and Mitchell Peyton anchored the defense with 11 saves in four quarters of work. The Comets outscored Chaffey 10-1 in the second half, showcasing their depth and execution across the lineup.
Looking Ahead
After closing the weekend with three wins in four games, the Comets turn their attention to the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championships, where they'll enter as the No. 3 seed and face San Diego Miramar in the opening round.
