Comets Outlast Jaguars to Stay Perfect in Conference

CHULA VISTA, CA (10/8/2025) -- After a tough weekend at the Saddleback Tournament, Palomar men's water polo bounced back in a big way Wednesday afternoon, defeating Southwestern College 18-15 on the road to move to 3-0 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play and 8-12 overall.

The Comets battled through a back-and-forth first half, trailing 8-7 at the break before exploding for 11 goals in the second half to pull away. Morgan Hartness powered the offense with a game-high five goals and an assist, while Sam Goode added four goals and a steal in another strong outing. Brian Otto set the tone early with a first-quarter hat trick, and Ramiro Mosquera and Luca Artiglio each netted two in the win.

Jack Fritz continued his role as the team's primary facilitator, finishing with a game-high five assists to go along with one goal, while Josiah Wagner and Brody Rodriguez rounded out the scoring. In goal, Alex Gonzalez came up big with 12 saves, keeping the Jaguars at bay down the stretch.

Palomar will look to continue its unbeaten conference run when they host Grossmont College on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wallace Memorial Pool.
