Comets fall to El Camino, bounce back to beat Rio Hondo

Over the weekend, men's water polo competed in the Cerritos College Mini Tournament and went 1-1 overall.

They first faced El Camino College and lost 12-9. Matt Kraszulyak scored two goals in the first quarter and Scott Richards scored once. In the second Kraszulyak found the net again and one more time in the third. Zane Bentley and Kevin McCollum both scored in the third. Truman Irion found the net in the fourth quarter and McCollum scored one more time.

Defensively, Kraszulyak and Richards had two steals and Bentley, McCollum and Zac Lemly all had one. Dalton DeSpain recorded 16 saves on 28 shots.

Their second game, the Comets faced Rio Hondo and won 20-11. Kevin McCollum scored seven goals and one assist. Matt Kraszulyak and Truman Irion both had three goals. Zac Lemly had two goals. Zane Bentley, Kaleb Ritchie, Bryce Sammons, Scott Richards and Janson Barela all had one goal.

Kraszulyak, Lemly and Rielly Gillum had two steals, while Braden McGuire, Ryan Bowe-McLeod and Richards had one. Dalton DeSpain had 13 saves on 24 shots.

The men are now 7-8 overall and face PCAC opponent Grossmont College on Wednesday for their third conference game.
