Comets Snap Losing Streak with Sweep Over Santiago Canyon
SAN MARCOS, CA (3/28/2025) -- The Palomar College men's volleyball team broke out of a four-match skid in dominant fashion, sweeping Santiago Canyon College 3-0 on Friday night. The victory marks the second time this season the Comets have defeated the Hawks, pushing their record to 5-13.
Sophomore standout Tyler Yraceburn led the offensive charge once again, recording 14 kills on 24 attacks while hitting an impressive .458. Micah Salas followed closely behind with 10 kills on 20 attacks, boasting a .450 hitting percentage.
Contributions came from across the roster, as Ryan Lin, Justus Pfeiffer, and Nolan Apodaca each added six kills to round out a balanced offensive performance. The Comets' setting tandem was in sync, with Ethan Davis dishing out 24 assists to go along with six digs, while Salas added 20 assists and four digs.
Defensively, Like Pihana anchored the back row with nine digs, while Noah Frontelara recorded eight. Pfeiffer also made his presence felt at the net with three assisted blocks, helping Palomar control the match from start to finish.
With the win, the Comets gain momentum as they look ahead to their next matchup.
