Comets fall to Jets in three

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/30/2022) — In a Spring Break matinee show, Palomar took on PCAC opponent San Diego Miramar College for the final time this season and lost 3-0 despite a strong first set.

Down 19-11, the Comets needed a spark to bring them back to life. Playing their second-string, Palomar came to life and went on a 10-6 run to end up losing the set 25-20. Freshmen Luke Wagner and Rhoven Pantig went on a couple of serving runs for the Comets to keep them alive. John Parannada and Peter-Kalani Suiaunoa laid down the hammer at the net that make the bench roar.

It seemed the Comets carried their momentum into the next set, but it was the Jets who had the last word as they took sets two and three 25-18 and 25-16.

Suiaunoa finished the day with five kills on seven attacks, while Parannada finished with four on 10 attacks. Sophomore libero Jared Alegado recorded 12 digs in two sets played.

The Comets are now 2-12 overall and 0-7 in PCAC play. They will face Grossmont College on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Dome for Sophomore Night.
