Comets tame Griffins in five sets

SAN MARCOS, CA (4/12/2019) – In their final game of the season, Palomar beat the undefeated Grossmont College in a thrilling five sets on Friday night.

Grossmont won the first set 25-23 in a back and forth kill battle and also won the second 25-17 in a set that saw rally after rally.

The Comets made a big comeback in the third set to force a fourth one. They battled for every point and ended up winning 29-27. Trevor Richardson chased after a ball into the stands and the Comets came together at a crucial time. Richardson and Jon Shetler went for kill after kill to help the Comets come out on top.

Moving into the fourth set, the Comets dominated and won 25-16. Sophomore Ken Reyes scored at least four points on serves. In the fifth set, the Comets won 15-10.

They finished their season 6-9 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
