Comets Splash To 167-45, 170-57 Victories

SAN MARCOS (3-03-2017) -- Palomar's women's and men's swimming teams had their way with visiting Southwestern in every race but the men's 100-yard butterfly on Friday at Wallace Memorial Pool as the Comets opened the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference season with a pair of routs over Southwestern.

The Comet women's team defeated the Jaguars 167-45. Palomar's men's squad won 170-57.

Emma Thomas (left) and Michelle Jacob (right) both were triple winners in individual events for the Palomar women. Thomas won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:12.93, the 50 freestyle in 25.66 and the 100 bacstroke in 1:02.43. Jacob placed first in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.35, the 100 backstroke in 1:12.03 and the 100 individual medley in 1:04.96.

Gabriela White won two events, the 200 freestyle in 2:12.07 and the 500 freestyle in 5:47.72.

Montgomery MacKenzie, Jordann Heinback and both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams also won for the Comets.

Connor Baine was a triple winner for the men's squad, placing first in the 50 backstroke (27.64), the 100 freestyle (50.64) and the 100 IM (1:02.04). Alexander Nider (200 freestyle in 2:00.72 and 50 freestyle in 24:18), Allen Klein (1,000 freestyle in 11:31.09 and 50 butterfly in 26.38) and Zach Wagonis (50 breaststroke in 32.50 and 100 backstroke in 1:04.56) were double winners.

Dylan Van Horn, German Rodarte and both relay teams also were winners for Palomar.
