Comets land four on all-conference team; Bahena and Lopez to Sophomore Showcase

SAN MARCOS, CA (12/2/2021) -- Robert Jeffers, Wyatt Oldenburg, Jose Mondragon and Christian Bahena have all been named to the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference All-Conference Team. 

Sophomore midfielders Jeffers (San Pasqual) and Bahena (Orange Glen) played key roles for the Comets this season. Jeffers had two goals on 12 shots and one assist for a total of five points. Bahena had four goals on 20 shots and three assists for 11 points. 

Mondragon (Escondido) helped open up the field for the Comets in the backfield. He had one goal this season and played in every game. Oldenburg (Poway) was the Comets' goalkeeper this season and helped the Comets win four shutout games. He allowed 19 goals all season and had 49 saves for a percentage of .721 and averaged 1.36 goals against a game.

In addition to landing an all-conference accolade, Bahena will be joined by sophomore forward Mario Lopez (Elsinore) at the CCCAA Sophomore Showcase held at Mt. San Antonio College on Dec. 4. This event is held in conjunction with the CCCAA State Final Four round of play and players are selected to play in the event.
