Men open conference with a tie to Southwestern

CHULA VISTA, CA (10/1/19) – Palomar opened up conference play against Southwestern College on Tuesday and tied 1-1.

The Comets trailed all game after Southwestern's Juventino Garcia Lop scored on a penalty kick at the 2-minute mark. It wasn't until the final minute the Comets got on the board when Seth Murphy found the net on an assist from Arturo Soltero. Caleb Daza recorded three saves on four shots on goal.

Jacob Stutzman, Murphy and Anderson Kinsey all received yellow cards. This was Kinsey's first yellow card of the season and Murphy's second. Stutzman has three yellow cards on the season.

The Comets are in second place in conference play and are tied with Southwestern. Palomar is currently 4-3-3 overall and 0-0-1 in conference. They are on a three-game tie streak. The Comets will be back at home on Friday to take on Cuyamaca College at 1 p.m.
