Montes signs with UC Santa Barbara
SAN MARCOS, CA (8/7/2019) – Jacob Montes has signed with UC Santa Barbara.
Montes was the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference's (PCAC) Most Outstanding Player his freshman and sophomore years at Palomar. He led all PCAC golfers in conference-event scoring in both the 2018 and 2019 seasons, 73.4 in 2018 and 72.4 in 2019. Montes led the team to a 44-4 conference record and the 2019 PCAC Team Championship.
Montes qualified for the CCCAA SoCal Regional Tournament twice and was the medalist in 2019. He had a 36-hole total of 139 at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills on May 6. He was also a top regional qualifier for the CCCAA State Championship Tournament that occurred on May 14 in Napa, where he finished 37th with a score of 14-over. Montes also was a two-time all-conference selection for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.
Off the golf course, Montes excelled in the classroom. The business administration major had completed 52 credit hours at the start of the spring 2019 semester and had a 3.94 cumulative grade point average.
Montes is a graduate of Torrey Pines High School where he was a two-year letterman and a two-year starter.
