Palomar Powers Past MiraCosta, Turns Attention to San Diego City Showdown

SAN MARCOS, CA (1/21/2026) -- Palomar kept rolling through conference play on Wednesday night, earning a 101–74 home victory over MiraCosta College to continue its strong stretch inside the Dome.

The Comets took control early, building a 50–41 halftime lead, then pulled away in the second half behind efficient shooting and dominance on the glass. Palomar finished the night shooting 56.3% from the field, including 50% from three after halftime, while holding MiraCosta to 37.2% shooting.

Angel Ochoa followed up his historic night at Grossmont with another standout performance, scoring 30 points and going 11-for-14 at the free-throw line, while also dishing out six assists. Benjie Nudo added 26 points on an ultra-efficient 10-of-13 shooting night, and Isaiah Pomare posted a double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds, controlling the paint throughout.

Justin White chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Palomar's balanced effort helped the Comets outscore MiraCosta 50–36 in the paint and close the game with a perfect 100% free-throw performance in the second half.

With the win, Palomar improves to 14–5 overall and 6–1 in PCAC play, continuing to apply pressure at the top of the conference standings.

The Comets will close out the first round of conference play on Friday, traveling to face San Diego City College on the road.
