Men start season off with win over Antelope Valley

VENTURA, CA (10/31/2019) – Men's basketball tipped off their season at the Ventura College Tournament against Antelope Valley College and won 82-76.

The Comets were up 56-38 at the half. Palomar showed signs of struggle in the second half as Antelope Valley outscored the team 40 to 26.

Noah Woodby had a strong showing by starting the season with a double-double. He led the team with 21 points and 11 rebounds. He was 6-12 on field goals was 3-7 on three-pointers. Michael Brandon recorded 13 points and was 305 on three-pointers. Both Woodby and Brandon were perfect on the day from the charity stripe going 6-6 and 4-4 respectively. Hunter Perry had 12 points and shot 80 percent on field goals and three-pointers.

As a team, Palomar had 44 rebounds and caused 13 turnovers and scored 22 points off the turnovers. The Comet bench put up 32 points. The team had a field goal percentage of 44.3 percent and a three-point percentage of 45.8 percent.

The men will face Ventura College today at 5 p.m. at Ventura.
