Warriors best Comets in season finale

ESCONDIDO, CA (11/12/2022) -- No. 16 Palomar College hosted El Camino College in their final regular season finale and lost 52-24 to finish the season 5-5 and 1-4 in conference play.

El Camino jumped out to a 10-0 lead just minutes into the second quarter before the Comets had a chance to kick a 40-yard field goal by Landon Ogles to cut the lead to 10-3. But the Warriors responded with a 62-yard touchdown pass. On the kickoff, sophomore Isaiah Davis decided to get the job done himself, scoring a touchdown on a 96-yard kickoff return.

The Comets could not stop the Warriors, as they scored another touchdown on a 78-yard pick six, a 55-yard touchdown run and a 49-yard touchdown run. The Comets scored their final touchdown with five minutes to go in the fourth when quarterback Thomas Fishburne ran it in for a 2-yard score.

Palomar's defense extended their takeaway streak when Jalen Ramsey forced a fumble and Jayson Pace recovered it and then Syrr Jaydn Barnes had a 36-yard interception. Jason Pugal also had a fumble recovery, which he returned for 30 yards. Sophomore defensive back Devin Dye led the Comets with 11 tackles, while sophomore Masato Thompson and Pace finished with eight. Jalen Ramsey had two tackles-for-loss for seven yards.

Palomar finished their regular season 5-5 overall, with wins over Victory Valley, Southwestern, College of the Canyons, San Diego Mesa and Chaffey, and 1-4 in conference play.
