Football Preview: Week 9

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/3/2021) -- It is week nine of the football season for No. 25/20 Palomar, as they face No. 9/12 Mt San Antonio at home. The Comets are coming off a wild 36-34 win vs Cerritos.

Through eight games, the Comets average 330 yards of offense while giving up 372 yards on defense. The Comets average 27 points a game while giving up 25 points a game.

Comets quarterback Zeke Payne (Rancho Bernardo) is coming off a 21-33 257 yards two touchdowns performance. Tawee Walker (Cenntennial) leads the running backs group, as he averages 5.1 yards per rush. Brandon Johnson (El Camino) leads the wide receivers group, as he has 24 receptions for 316 yards and four touchdowns.

The Comets defense is led by linebacker Vavega Sialoi (Vista), who has 23 tackles, including two tackles for loss. Ricky Davis Jr (Arbor View) has four interceptions to lead the Comets defense. Kicker Landon Ogles (Rancho Bernardo) has made all 11 of his field goal attempts.

On the opposite side of the field, Mt San Antonio quarterback Alex Flores has hit 101 of 154 passes for 1241 yards and 14 touchdowns. Running back Keoua Kauni has 40 carries for 326 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Reginald Anderson has 21 receptions for 387 yards and six touchdowns.

Mt San Antonio's defense is led by defensive linemen Tupu Alualu, who has 31 tackles and two sacks. Defensive back Mickael Jackson has 13 tackles and two interceptions. Kicker Noah Carlton has knocked down six field goals and 28 extra points.

The Comets look for their fifth win of the season. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at home on Saturday November 6th.
