Football Week Seven Preview

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/25/2019) – Football heads to Fullerton this weekend for a conference showdown. Both teams are 0-1 in conference.

After last week's 31-7 loss to Mt. SAC, Palomar is seeking it's first road win this season. They are currently averaging 385.5 yards a game with only 90.5 rushing yards. Defensively, the Comets are allowing an average of 325.5 yards and 28.3 points.

Fullerton is averaging 404 yards a game, 105.7 rushing and 298.3 passing. Defensively, they allow 368 yards, 83.2 rushing and 284.8 passing.

Quarterback Rodney Thompson is having himself a season with 1609 passing yards through six games and averaging 268.2 yards a game. He also leads the team with 171 rushing yards and an average of 28.5 yards a game. Damon Wigand is close behind with 142 yards on the season and 23.7 rushing yards. Standout receiver Kyran Griffin has 539 yards on the season with 40 receptions. He is averaging 89/8 yards a game. Another standout receiver, Johnny Armentrout has five touchdown receptions on the season and has 424 receiving yards on 36 receptions. He is averaging 70.7 yards a game.

Defensively, Kameron Camp leads with team with 46 total tackles on the season and an average of 7.7 a game. He has 5.5 tackles-for-loss with nine yards and one interception that he ran back for 22-yards against Grossmont College. Kobe Dominguez has 38 total tackles with 7.6 a game. He has two sacks on the season for nine yards and three tackles-for-loss totaling 15 yards. He also has one interception.

For the Fullerton Hornets, quarterback Quinn Commans has 1372 yards on the season and averages 228.7 yards. Running back Alfonzo Graham has 167 yards on the season with an average of 27.8 and one touchdown. Lucky Avinger has 160 rushing yards and an average of 26.7 yards. Receiver Tim Allen, has 252 yards on 30 receptions for an average of 42 yards a game. Kailan Noseff has 310 yards on 19 receptions and averages 51.7 yards a game.

Defensively, Xavion Steele has 43 total tackles with an average of 7.2 yards/ He has two sacks on the season for 13 yards and six tackles-for-loss totaling 22 yards. He has one interception and eight breakups. Josiah Morrow has 39 total tackles with an average of 7.8. He has 0.5 tackles-for-loss totaling three yards and two sacks for six yards.

Both teams are 2-4 overall and 0-1 in conference. This already known rivalry is even more so now as both teams are looking for win over the other in and in conference. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Yorba Linda High School.
