Football Week Six Preview

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/16/2019) – Football is back from their bye week and are preparing to face Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Comets are coming off one of their best games this season against Grossmont College, in which they allowed only 152 yards of offense.

Mt. SAC averages 391 yards a game and score about 27 points. They average 184.6 rushing yards and 206.4 passing yards. The Comets average 397.6 offensive yards and score about 30 points a game. They average 97.2 rushing yards and 300.4 passing yards.

Defensively, Mt. SAC allows an average of 99.6 rushing yards and 182 passing yards for a total average of 281.6 offensive yards. Opponents average 18.8 points against the Mounties. Palomar has allowed 324.2 yards a game, 134.6 rushing yards and 189/6 passing yards. Teams have scored an average of 27.8 points against the Comets.

Mt. SAC quarterback Zach Rangel averages 220 passing yards a game with 660 on the season. Palomar's own Rodney Thompson averages 268.2 passing yards with 1341 on the season. Thompson also leads the Comets in rushing yards with 158 on the season and 31.6 a game. Mt. SAC's running back, Rachaad White averages 130.2 yards a game with 651 on the season. The Mounties leading receiver is Sean Bowden with an average of 22 4.4 receptions a game and 59.8 yards. Palomar's leading receiver is Johnny Armentrout with 6.2 average receptions a game and 76.8 yards.

Defensively, Kameron Camp leads the Comets with 37 tackles on the season and 7.4 tackles a game. Right behind him is Kobe Dominguez with 31 total tackles and 7.8 tackles a game. Dominguez, Sid Weddington and Tommy Woo all have two sacks on the season. For the Mounties, Tyrin Brooks leads the team with 26 total tackles and averages 5.2 a game. Behind him is Levon Barnett with 21 total tackles and 4.2 a game. Both Brooks and Barnett have one sack.

The Comets are coming off a 36-14 win over Grossmont and Mt. SAC is coming off a 27-24 loss to Saddleback College. Last season the Comets defeated Mt. SAC at home.
