Comets Defeat Fullerton, Improve to 5-0

SAN MARCOS, CA (1/31/2026) -- Palomar College Baseball remained unbeaten on Saturday afternoon, defeating Fullerton College 11-6 at Bob Vetter Field to move to 5-0 on the season.

The Comets set the tone early, scoring six runs in the second inning and never relinquishing control. Palomar followed with multi-run frames in the third and sixth innings, building a lead that proved too much for the visitors to overcome.

Gavin Malcomson delivered the big swing of the day, launching a three-run home run as part of a three-RBI performance. Ryan Ham added three RBIs, while Rainn McMillan also drove in three runs as the middle of the lineup continued to produce. Palomar showed patience at the plate as well, working 11 walks and forcing Fullerton's pitching staff to labor throughout the afternoon.

On the mound, Ryan Herrod was dominant in his start, tossing five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out four. The bullpen handled the final four frames, with Jordan Green, Angel Barron, Chance Crawford, and Cody Cappelletti combining to close out the win and limit further damage.

With the victory, Palomar stays perfect at 5-0 and continues its strong start to the 2026 campaign.

The Comets will remain at home on Thursday, hosting Saddleback College for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
