Palomar Baseball Earns 2024-25 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

SAN MARCOS, CA (7/28/2025) — The Palomar College Baseball program has been honored with the 2024-25 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack. The Comets were one of just seven California colleges to receive this national recognition, which celebrates programs that demonstrate a strong commitment to academic achievement.

The award, now in its ninth year, is presented annually to ABCA member high school and college programs that post a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the academic year. Palomar joins nearly 750 programs nationwide—including more than 440 collegiate programs—in earning this prestigious accolade.

To be eligible for the honor, programs must be coached by a current ABCA member and meet the academic GPA threshold for the 2024-25 academic year. Palomar's recognition places it among an elite group of institutions nationwide prioritizing both athletic success and academic excellence.

The ABCA has a longstanding tradition of honoring excellence across all levels of baseball, with awards that include the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams, All-Region Teams, and coaching accolades. The Team Academic Excellence Award further highlights the importance of a holistic student-athlete experience.

The award is presented in partnership with Sports Attack, a family-owned manufacturer known for its innovative sports training equipment and dedication to quality craftsmanship. For more on the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award and a full list of recipients, visit www.abca.org.
